Green Infrastructure/ Stormwater Management

Managing stormwater in rural, suburban and urban environments has become an increasing concern as development has increased the impervious surfaces which force rainwater into our storm drains. This causes increased pollution, erosion, and flooding in our streams, creeks, rivers and neighboring properties, while also stressing the capacity of or wastewater treatment facilities, which often results in untreated effluent entering our lakes and rivers. The EFC has developed several informational publications and hosted several educational and training sessions on this topic and continues to support municipalities as they develop projects to control stormwater.

Read the recent Wall Street Journal article about Stormwater Management here: Where Does the Water Go?: In most cities, it runs off into nearby lakes, rivers and streams. And that's a problem.
